HALL 2 余園-The relics of Euston & Eucliffe mansion
This exhibition presents an extraordinary collection of Art Deco and Art Nouveau objets d'art salvaged from the legendary Eucliffe and Euston Mansions - the private residences of Eu Tong Sen, visionary founder of Eu Yan Sang and prominent figure in Hong Kong's history.
Though these architectural marvels have faded from our city's landscape, their exquisite artistic legacy endures. Each meticulously preserved piece offers visitors a rare portal into Hong Kong's craftsmanship and sophisticated aesthetic sensibilities of early 20th-century elites.
These surviving treasures tell a dual narrative: they are both artefacts of exceptional artistry and poignant reminders of Hong Kong's ever-evolving urban identity. The craftsmanship on display represents a zenith of decorative arts achievement, where European design movements were reinterpreted through an Eastern lens for discerning colonial-era collectors.
We invite you to appreciate not just the objects themselves, but the marvellous tales they carry.
