The Camera

The earliest known reference to a pinhole camera comes from ancient China. Around 400 BCE, the philosopher Mozi discovered that light passing through a tiny hole could project an upside-down image—a principle that would later shape photography. In 1837, Louis Daguerre introduced the daguerreotype, requiring a 30-minute exposure. Now, we snap photos instantly with our phones. But is this the peak of photography? What’s left to improve?
